New Short Story Award Announced
June 27, 2013
The Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards, in association with writing.ie, has introduced a new category for the 2013 awards, the Writing.ie Short Story of the Year Award. The aim of the initiative is to discover the best short story published in Ireland during the current awards year.
The Award is open to short stories of up to 7000 words published between 1st Nov 2012 and 31st October 2013 in either, a collection of short stories by a single author; or in an anthology of short stories; or in an established journal or magazine published in print or digital format. (New stories will only be eligible if they have achieved publication during the eligibility time-frame).
Submissions will be judged by an independent panel of three judges, author Carlo Gebler, director of Dublin City of Literature Jane Alger, and bestselling author and bookseller Adrian White of Dubray Books. The judging panel will select the final four stories to be shortlisted and the winner will be selected in the traditional Irish Book Awards manner by a combined public and Voting Academy online poll.
